Norwegian health official: We don’t recommend taking the Janssen vaccine

“We do not recommend taking the Janssen vaccine – to anyone,” assistant health director Espen Nakstad said on Wednesday.

According to Nakstad, people should rather wait for the vaccines in the national vaccine program.

“Although rare, the vaccines can cause life-threatening side effects in the form of a rare form of blood clots. This is a risk we do not recommend taking now as there are only a few weeks left until everyone will be offered an mRNA vaccine,” Nakstad said about the Janssen vaccine and other vector vaccines.

He estimates that it will take about seven weeks until young people in municipalities with high infection pressure are offered the first dose of vaccine if everything goes according to plan.
