Tryg Forsikring had more than 45% more lightning-related damage reports injuries in July this year compared with July last year.

“I have never come across so many lightning-related damage reports in the middle of the summer before,” Torbjørn Brandeggen in Tryg Forsikring noted in a press release.

To date, the insurance company has registered 565 cases of damages to buildings and items following lightning strikes and electrical phenomena in July.

Most of the reports occurred in the second half of the month. The counties of Viken, Agder, Innlandet, and Vestfold og Telemark stand out when it comes to the number of reports.

“In total, we are probably talking about millions of kroner in damages here,” Brandeggen added.
