A Northern Norwegian man in his 40s has been sentenced to six years in prison for raping his wife on five occasions between 2006 and 2019.
The man claimed that the intercourse was voluntary, but the Hålogaland Court of Appeal disagreed.
The court ruled that the man should be imprisoned for six years and four months but gave a deduction of four months due to the appeal hearing being postponed for seven months due to the corona pandemic.
The punishment is the same as the one from Nord-Troms District Court in November.
The man must also pay the woman NOK 275,000 in restitution.
