A Norwegian man has been sentenced to life in prison in Greece, the man’s lawyer told the newspaper Dagbladet.

The man was arrested in January 2021 for the murder of his cohabitant in Crete, Dagbladet writes. Since then, he has been in custody there.

The verdict was passed on Friday, and the Norwegian man was not present in court.

“He received the law’s most severe punishment,” lawyer Giannis Parasyris told the newspaper.

The man has admitted to having killed his cohabitant, Parasyris stated. He added that the verdict would be appealed.

On Sunday, January 17, 2021, a woman in her 50s was found killed in the home that she shared with the Norwegian man. The murder is said to have taken place between January 13 and 14.
