A simplified version of the coronavirus certificate will be in place in May.

A corona certificate will be able to show a person’s vaccination status, test results, and any immunity after undergoing COVID-19, the government announced.

“The use of the certificate has not yet been specified, neither nationally nor with a view to entry and quarantine on arrival in Norway from abroad.

“Many considerations must be taken into account in this assessment,” Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie (H) said.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) are now investigating how a corona certificate could be used in the reopening of Norway. After they issue recommendations, the government will take a position on the matter.

Final version planned for June

The final version of the certificate, which will be fully in line with EU regulations, will come at the end of June when the EU Commission’s bill to create a digital green certificate is scheduled to enter into force.

“From the Norwegian side, we have emphasized that a coordinated European approach to the design of corona certificates can contribute to a safe reopening in Europe.

“At the same time, we have emphasized that national authorities must regulate the use of the certificates,” Høie said.
