Norwegian municipalities settled a total of 4,822 refugees last year, figures from the Integration and Diversity Directorate show. The number is about the same as the previous year.

– “If refugees are to succeed, getting a place to live and get a job quickly is important. They must be able to participate and contribute to society,” says Minister of Education and Integration Trine Skei Grande in a press release.

The refugees settled in 251 different municipalities. The municipalities in Trøndelag settled together with the most refugees with a number of 516.

Nearly six out of ten of the residents were quota refugees. 137 of the refugees were single minors.

At the end of 2019, 142 refugees in reception were expected to reside, compared with 582 refugees at the end of 2018.
