Bars and restaurants in Norway reported strong growth in turnover over the weekend after the full reopening of the country, figures from the Vipps payment service show.

“Turnover in Norwegian bars increased by 156% from the last weekend in January, and by 26% from the previous weekend. The restaurants also reported a boost, with 30% revenue growth compared to the last weekend in January,” Øyvind Brekke, head of Bankaxept and BankID, stated.

The growth was most significant in Vestfold og Telemark, Viken, and Trøndelag with 45, 40, and 36% growth, respectively, from last weekend. In Oslo, there was “only” 22% growth in the bars’ turnover.

Rogaland is the county with the largest increase compared with the last weekend in January – the increase amounted to over 260%.
