Assistant director of health Espen Nakstad fears that Norway may see a new infection wave if people relax too much when vaccination begins.
“As soon as we start vaccinating people, people will also relax more. If we look around us in Europe, I think it may lead to a third wave of infection in many countries,” Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).
He believes that the vaccination will lead to a temptation to remove measures and that people will then begin to live almost normally and think that the danger is over.
“But the situation is, actually, such that there will still only be a small part of the population who will have immunity to the virus,” Nakstad added.
He believes it could take many months before society can return to normal.
