The board of Norwegian Oil and Gas has decided to suspend the Russian companies RN Nordic and Lukoil due to the Ukraine invasion.

In light of the Ukraine situation, the board of Norwegian Oil and Gas has decided to suspend the Russian companies RN Nordic and Lukoil. Furthermore, Lukoil has terminated its membership in Norwegian Oil and Gas today,” Chairman of the Board Monica Th. Bjørkmann in Norwegian Oil and Gas stated.

Norwegian Oil and Gas is an employer and interest organization for companies operating on the Norwegian shelf. On Monday, the Red Party (Rødt) and the Green Party (MDG) called on the organization to suspend Russian companies.

“It goes without saying – in the situation we are in now – that Russian petroleum companies can not be part of the umbrella organization Norwegian Oil and Gas. Now it’s time to cut all ties and end their membership,” deputy leader Arild Hermstad in the MDG told NTB.

More and more Norwegian companies are taking action after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On Monday, the board of Equinor decided to stop new investments in Russia and to start the process of leaving existing cooperation projects in the country.
