According to his defense, a Norwegian Pakistani in his 30s has been released in Dubai after he was arrested in October in a major drug case.

The man’s lawyer John Christian Elden has confirmed this to VG.

“The Oslo District Court appointed me as a public defender for him when he was arrested in Dubai at the request of Kripos. I note that the authorities in Dubai have now released him as Norway has not shown to them that he can be suspected of any offense on various grounds, which he also disputes himself,” Elden tells VG.

According to NRK, the man is connected to an international drug network, and he is charged with importing over 560 kilos of drugs into Norway. Kripos has charged him with serious drug offenses.

To VG, Jonas Fabritius Christoffersen at Kripos says that they do not have official information about the man being released and that they will contact the Dubai authorities this week.

“The charge has been maintained on our part,” he tells the newspaper.
