Norwegian parliament (Storting) President Masud Gharahkhani has asked the administration of the Storting to present measures to save electricity at the parliament’s many buildings.

The move comes after Local Government Minister Sigbjørn Gjelsvik (SP) urged the state to take action to contribute to lower energy use in its buildings.

“We must take our share of the responsibility. The Storting has multiple buildings, and we must also reduce energy use.

“Today, I have asked the administration to present relevant measures to the presidency as soon as possible,” Gharahkhani told NTB.

Several countries have introduced concrete requirements for, among other things, lowered temperatures and less lighting in public buildings, but Gjelsvik has not wanted to introduce that in Norway so far.
