Norwegian police to investigate Siv Jensen’s possible breach of corona rules

The police are starting an investigation into the former Progress Party (FRP) leader Siv Jensen for a possible violation of the corona rules, the police told news bureau NTB. 

Jensen admitted to breaching the rules on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Siv Jensen admitted to TV 2 that she broke the corona rules in connection with the May 17 celebration at her mother’s home.

In addition to Jensen, there were twelve other people present at the celebration, according to the channel.

The current corona rules in the capital state that it is forbidden to have more than ten people gather in private homes.

“More than ten people gathered, of which five were vaccinated. We didn’t know that the new recommendations from the FHI that don’t include protected (note: vaccinated) persons in the number do not apply to Oslo,” Jensen said on Tuesday.

“I strongly apologize. If we are fined for this violation, we will, of course, pay,” she said.
