The Southeastern Police District has received several reports from people who have been called by people pretending to be police officers.
“This is an attempt at fraud. The police will not ask you to provide a password or login codes over the phone,” the police wrote on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.
The phone number that the callers use is similar to the one used by the police, but it is not exactly the same, the police warned.
