Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) fears it is too late to find a diplomatic or political solution to the situation between Russia and Ukraine.

“We must hope all the time and put effort into it. But it is a very dramatic situation. If there is a new invasion in Ukraine, we will be in a new era in Europe. We just have to realize that,” Støre told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

He commented on the increasingly tense situation in Ukraine on Saturday morning. Ukrainian separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk began evacuating their citizens to Russia and mobilizing their forces on Saturday.

On Saturday, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg called on Russia to withdraw its forces from the border with Ukraine. Late Friday night, US President Joe Biden said an attack could happen at any time.

  1. I think Jonas is right. We could have instead given the Russians a fair and comprehensive Monroe Doctrine type peace and security treaty which we *owe* them after breaking our security promises to them and our 2014 Kiev coup, but the West’s hardliners refused to do so, and now – after Zelensky talking about Ukraine getting nuclear weapons at the Munich “Security” Conference – the Russians are left with no choice *but* to invade.
    Sad. Completely unnecessary. Stupid!

And meanwhile the icecaps are melting away and Earth will soon be boiling when we all in the world should be uniting to stop it.
    Lemming Fever!

It is never too late to start making serious sivillforsvars preparations, in any case, Prime Minister Støre.
