Norwegian had over 2.2 million passengers in July- the highest figure since before the pandemic. July was a month of flight chaos and strikes in several European countries.

“This has been a good summer for Norwegian… We carried out close to all flights despite many and major challenges for air traffic in Europe,” CEO Geir Karlsen of Norwegian stated.

In July, 95% of Norwegian’s flight seats were sold out, the highest percentage in many years.

A total of 2,206,424 passengers traveled with Norwegian in July, compared to 695,830 passengers in the same month last year, which was still largely characterized by the pandemic.

July was also the month a strike hit Norwegian’s biggest competitor, SAS. In addition, staffing problems led to major problems at several European airports as a result of redundancies during the pandemic.
