These are the results of a survey conducted by travel company Apollo in March of 2021.
The Mediterranean was found to be the most-coveted holiday hotspot for Norwegians this year.
Norwegians would like to vacation abroad in 2021
7 out of 10 Norwegians are planning a trip abroad in 2021, Apollo revealed in a press release on May 3.
Their main reasons for a vacation? Almost 85% of the 1500 Norwegians surveyed named soaking in sun and swimming in the sea as their main vacation motivations.
So, it’s no surprise the radiant Mediterranean Sea is highest-ranking on their travel wishlists.
Top destinations are Greece and Croatia
As many as 54% of Norwegians surveyed said they wished to travel to Greece for this year’s holiday. In second place is Croatia.
Norwegians’ hottest summer destinations for 2021, per Apollo, are:
- Crete, Greece
- Rhodes, Greece
- Parga, Greece
- Zakynthos, Greece
Support for local businesses in the spotlight
Among Apollo’s customers, many also expressed concern about the restaurant owners, waiters, accommodation renters, and others in the tourism industry, who’ve had their lives turned upside down this year.
In the survey, the majority stated that they want to holiday in an apartment or a small, family-run hotel rather than an international large chain because they want to contribute to locals directly.
Although almost 80% of participants stated that they haven’t booked their vacation yet, 70% are already in full swing with planning.
Have a nice trip – God tur – Kaló taxídi – Sretan put! 🙂
