A new survey shows that 89% of surveyed Norwegians say they have very high or fairly high confidence in research.

The proportion is record high and has risen by as much as 8% since the previous survey in September, the Research Council wrote in a press release.

“These are very good numbers. We see that the corona situation has strengthened support for research and knowledge, and that is good,” Minister of Research and Higher Education Henrik Asheim (H) noted.

Regarding the corona situation, nine out of ten respondents in the survey conducted by Kantar said that they trust health professionals and researchers when these groups speak out.

Just under half of the respondents said they trusted politicians, but only 28% trust journalists.
