Nothing to suggest any Norwegians are affected

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any reports that suggest any Norwegians have been affected by the earthquake in central Italy.

– We have no indications that any Norwegians have been affected in these areas of Italy, says Foreign Affairs minister Haavardsdatter Lunde to the news agency NTB.

She says they have been in contact with the Embassy in Rome who are working with Italian authorities.

The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2,  hit central parts of the country in at 3:36 on Wednesday morning. Amatrice, located about 130 kilometers northeast of Rome, are among the worst affected places.

At least sixteen people are reported killed in the quake, according to several media outlets.
