Novavax expects to be able to produce 150 million doses a month of the company’s corona vaccine as early as May or June.
On Thursday, the American company announced that the experimental COVID-19 vaccine shows promising results after testing in the UK and South Africa.
More than 15,000 people have participated in the testing in the UK, where the stated efficiency amounted to 89.3%.
Novavax expects that the so-called phase 3 testing, where the vaccine is tested on larger population groups, will be completed within a couple of weeks, according to the news agency Reuters.
The company is already working to increase production capacity.
“We should be at full capacity starting in May or June, maybe as much as one hundred and fifty million doses per month globally,” the company’s CEO Stanley Erck said.
