From week 10, a small batch of the corona vaccine Nuvaxovid from the company Novavax will be available in Norway, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) stated on Friday.

The corona vaccine is based on a more traditional technology than the mRNA vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer, which are mostly used in Norway.

“It has been decided to make a smaller number of doses of Nuvaxovid available in Norway so that those who want to use this vaccine have the opportunity to do so,” chief physician Sara Viksmoen Watle at the FHI noted in a press release.

She believes there is no basis for preferring this vaccine over mRNA vaccines. However, the vaccine could be important for people who, for various reasons, want a different type of vaccine.

All municipalities can order the vaccine. It will be available for distribution from week 10.
