NRK: A hostage situation is playing out in Kristiansand

Agder police district is getting assistance from the emergency police squad and a helicopter in an ongoing police operation in Kristiansand. According to Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK), it’s a hostage situation.

Agder police district received assistance from national assistance resources in connection with an ongoing assignment, the police stated in a press release.

“At the moment, we do not want to comment on the assignment, but there is no reason to believe that there is any danger to the population,” operations manager Vidar Arnesen noted.

According to NRK, a hostage situation is taking part in the city.

Newspaper Fædrelandsvennen writes that the police emergency unit (UEH) has moved out and that the police are receiving assistance from the emergency squad and a police helicopter.
