One in three murders in the capital in the last ten years has taken place on the open street, according to Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK). In almost half of the murder cases, the killer was mentally ill.

In the last ten years, 60 murders have been committed in Oslo. 35 of the victims were men, while 22 of them were women, and 3 were children, according to a survey conducted by NRK.

The survey shows that every third Oslo murder in the last ten years has taken place on the open street, which is far above the national average.

According to the survey, every fourth street murder in the capital has affected a random person.

Mentally ill

In the last ten years, nearly half of all murders in Oslo were committed by a seriously mentally ill person.

In the threat assessment for 2021, the police stated that the proportion of murders and attempted murders committed by people with apparent symptoms or already known diagnoses is increasing. The violence is also more ruthless.

Dissocial personality disorder and aggression are a recurring theme among the perpetrators of killings in Oslo, according to the survey. Paranoid schizophrenia is also a recurring issue.

On a national basis, an average of 30 people are killed in the course of a year. Last year, the number amounted to 27 murder victims, of which eight of them were killed in Oslo.

If most of the murders are committed by mentally ill persons, why don’t the government take care of these people so as to safeguard the lives of its citizens. This has gone too far and somthing must be done.
