NTNU researcher accused of sharing information about defense equipment with Iran

A professor who worked at NTNU is accused of violating the sanctions against Iran by inviting guest researchers from Iran and giving them access to a laboratory.

“We have issued charges against a person for violating the sanctions, including violations of the regulations related to Iran, the export control regulations, and a data breach,” public prosecutor Frederik Ranke told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

The indictment comes after the researcher and a colleague invited guest researchers from Iran to NTNU in the period from February 2018 to July 2019.

The other researcher was charged in the case, but the case against this researcher has been dropped.
