This autumn, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) will start inspections to check the condition along quick clay zones in Gjerdrum, Nannestad, and Ullensaker.

The inspections will start on September 27 and continue throughout the autumn. The main part of the work will take place in weeks 39 and 42, NVE writes.

“The inspection is part of a larger project that was started in December 2020 for assessment of the quick clay zones in the three municipalities. The project’s main goal is to get an updated picture of the degree of danger and risk in old quick clay zones,” project manager Ingrid Havnen in NVE stated.

On December 30, 2020, a major landslide occurred in Ask in Gjerdrum Municipality. More than 1,600 people were affected. Ten people lost their lives in the landslide.
