The winter in Norway has been mild, and there is thin and unsafe ice in large parts of the country, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) reports.

In the lowlands south of Trøndelag, the ice is very unsafe. In Troms and Finnmark, the ice is mostly passable on small lakes.

“Newly laid ice is a magnet for adventurous children, but they must learn about ice,” Ånund Kvambekk at the NVE noted.
