Oil and gas discoveries have been made in the exploration well Red Riding Hood in the Goliat area in the Barents Sea, Vår Energi confirmed on Wednesday.

Preliminary estimates show volumes of between nine and twelve million barrels of recoverable oil equivalents, according to Vår Energi. Torger Rød, CEO of Vår Energi, says that the discovery is important for the area.

“With the Red Riding Hood result, Vår Energi marks its sixth exploration discovery this year. Our competent explorers continue our successful 2021 campaign.”

The exploration well is located about 30 kilometers north of the Goliat field and five kilometers south of the Tornerose discovery.
