One person is infected with the omicron variant in Nordre Follo. This is the first case in the Municipality, and local authorities expect a rapidly increasing number of omicron cases.

“We expect a rapidly increasing number of omicron cases. We believe that the variant will also become dominant in Nordre Follo in a short time,” the Municipality stated in a press release.

The first case of omicron infection in Nordre Follo was confirmed on Wednesday night.

First confirmed case

“The infection is related to travel abroad outside Europe,” the Municipality stated.

There is also suspicion of omicron infection at a company in Nordre Follo, related to the outbreak at Norefjell Ski & Spa, where 700 people have been told to test themselves for corona.

“Omicron has not yet been confirmed in those infected at that company, but it is very likely. There are currently nine infected people in the outbreak, but none of them live in Nordre Follo,” it is stated.
