One third of all Norwegians under 30 years of age have never opened a Bible, according to a survey.

Sociologist of religion Erlend Hovdkinn Fonn sees the connection between the fact that fewer people say they are religious and the fact that fewer people read the Bible. At the same time, some non-religious people are curious and have an interest in reading the Bible.

The survey was commissioned by Vårt Land and carried out by Norstat.

At the same time, Fonn pointed out that many people are indifferent to religion and that some want to avoid the Bible because they feel it is outdated and has old gender roles.

On the other hand, acting Secretary-General of the Bible Society, Anne Mari Schiager Topland, believes it is positive that two out of three young people say they have read the Bible.
