One of Sweden’s largest criminal cases started on Tuesday in Stockholm. Thirty suspected gang members have been charged with, among other things, attempted murder, kidnapping, violence, and robbery.

On Tuesday and in the coming days, the prosecution will present the 16 charges against the members of the so-called Vårbynätverket.

“Many of the offenses are ruthless. There is violence against several targets, a large number of weapons, powerful explosions, and extensive drug trafficking,” prosecutor Anna Stråth has previously told TT.

The trial will also look into the attempted murder of a rival, the kidnapping of a famous rapper, and a robbery.

Logs of conversations from Encrochat, which include plans to carry out criminal acts, are a large part of the evidence against the accused.
