One person dies in Trøndelag landslide

An elderly person died in the landslide that hit a house in Valsøyfjord in Trøndelag on Friday evening. 

Two people were trapped in the house. They were taken out on Friday evening. An elderly person has been confirmed dead, the police said in a press release.

The other five affected people are being looked after by healthcare services.

“The work at the landslide-damaged house in Valsøyfjord is finished for the evening,” the police’s task leader at the scene, Håkon Flor, told NRK at 11 PM on Friday.

The emergency services were notified at 7:30 PM on Friday that a landslide approximately 200 meters long and 20 meters wide had swept away parts of a house on Hennset in Valsøyfjord in Heim Municipality in Trøndelag. Photos from the scene show that half of the house has been destroyed.

A total of six people were involved in the incident. There were people both nearby and inside the house when the landslide occurred.
