According to figures from the Norwegian Nurses ‘ Association, only about half of Norwegian nurses are fully vaccinated.

Nurses and other health workers must be given priority in the vaccine queue. But as June approaches, only about half of the Norwegian nurses are fully vaccinated, according to the figures from the Norwegian Nurses’ Association, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

The Norwegian Nurses’ Association leader, Lill Sverresdatter Larsen, does not understand why the vaccination coverage among Norwegian nurses is not higher.

“I know of municipalities that have started calling in healthy 18-year-olds while there are still many nurses who have not been vaccinated. We do not know what happened. Health personnel should be a priority,” she told NRK.

Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie (H) says that the municipalities and hospitals themselves must decide on the prioritization and timing.

“The health personnel works close to the patients, and the goal is to vaccinate them. Out of all the personnel, 66% are now vaccinated with the first dose. Vaccination will increase as a result of the municipalities and hospitals receiving more vaccines in the coming weeks,” he said.
