Only half of Norwegians believe that Norway will make significant progress in tackling climate change in the next decade, a new survey from Ipsos shows.

Norwegians are thus far more pessimistic than people in other countries. Among others, 73% of Swedes believe that their country will make significant progress, while the global average is 67%, according to the survey.

Norwegians also have low confidence that other countries will do their job. Only 34% of respondents believe other countries will make significant progress. Malaysia is most optimistic on behalf of other countries – the figure is 78%. The global average is 57%.

60% of Norwegians are worried about the impact of climate change on Norway, while 70% are worried about the impact on other countries.

A significant majority, 84%, believe the government and companies have the main responsibility for reducing carbon emissions. 76% think they are individually responsible.
