Oslo has not considered closing the parks

The parks in Oslo are bursting with good weather, but the City Council has no plans to shut them down.

– “Such is the situation now, we have not considered closing the parks,” says health council Robert Steen (Ap).

He says that the municipality has city officers who are observing.

“Being out in the park when the weather is nice, that’s one of the best things about Oslo,” says the health agency. He asks everyone to continue to follow the rules – that is, to wash their hands, keep their distance and avoid groups of more than five.

– “We know that the virus is transmitted to a lesser extent outside. It is up to the population to take responsibility for following the guidelines provided by the health authorities,” says Steen.

“The Directorate of Health’s hope is that the new infection app will help provide answers. If it turns out that the risk of getting infected is greatest indoors, it may not be so dangerous if people gather in the parks,” says Assistant Health Director Geir Stene-Larsen.

– But we will pay close attention to that.

Stene-Larsen will not rule out that the closure of the parks may be relevant.

– “We haven’t discussed it yet. But it can be relevant if it turns out that many are infected there,” he says to NTB.
