In a new proposal that has been sent out for consultation, the City of Oslo states that it wants only three electric scooter rental companies at a time to be responsible for renting electric scooters.

According to the proposal, the number limit of 8,000 electric scooters would continue to apply, E24 writes.

If there are more than three actors who meet the requirements for renting e-scooters, the selection will take place after an assessment based on, among other things, the actor’s “routines and instruments for securing accessible public spaces,” the proposal states.

The regulations were sent out for consultation on Monday. The consultation deadline is December 13.

Today, 12 companies rent out electric scooters in Oslo. Each company is allowed to have a maximum of 667 electric scooters.
