Oslo Municipality wants to prompt girls to choose construction subjects before the deadline for selecting a field of study in upper secondary school expires on March 1.

As one of the country’s largest construction actors, Oslo Municipality wants to use its position to work for greater diversity in the construction industry.

Today, the proportion of women in the construction industry is around 9%, the Municipality writes in a press release.

“We want to help more young people, and especially girls, apply for information about educational opportunities in construction before March 1.

“Untraditional career path”

“We hope to trigger the interest in an untraditional career path they may not be familiar with,” Knut Berge Øverdal, acting director of Kultur- og idrettsbygg Oslo KF, noted.

The recruitment campaign will, among other things, be aimed at 38,000 young people via Snapchat.
