In March this year, a 26-year-old woman was sentenced to seven months in prison in Oslo District Court for false rape accusations, Rett24 reports.

In August 2018, the now 26-year-old woman informed the police that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her and inflicted cuts on her face during an attempted rape, Rett24 writes.

The man was arrested and placed in police custody for two days while his apartment was searched. In the autumn of 2019, just over a year after the case was reported, the police reported the woman for making false claims. In the spring of 2020, the case was dismissed.

However, the woman stood her ground until March this year, when she finally acknowledged the relationship. She then explained that the two were in a quarrel over a child, who the woman believed was their son. She was afraid that the child would be placed in the care of the man.

The case details were not published until this autumn. The woman received a five-month penalty rebate because of the confession and because the case was only about an accusation of attempted rape.
