Oslo’s population could surpass 700,000 inhabitants before the turn of the year if the population increase for the rest of the year is in line with previous years.

Oslo had 697,550 inhabitants at the end of the third quarter, according to Statistics Norway (SSB).

That indicates that Oslo Municipality will surpass 700,000 inhabitants in the fourth quarter if the population rises at the same rate as the corresponding quarter in recent years.

“Whether this happens is uncertain, now that Oslo and the rest of the country are faced with a new round of corona measures that, among other things, can also slow down immigration,” the SSB noted.
