Østfold Hospital introduces quarantine for foreign travelers

Those who have been abroad must wait for ten days before they can visit inpatients at Østfold Hospital. This applies even if you have been to ‘green countries.’

This is stated by the hospital in a press release on Friday. The rule came into force on the same day at 12 noon and also applies to those who accompany patients.

“We want as far as possible to avoid infection into the hospital, so that patients who stay with us can be safe. Although traveling abroad to green areas is an acceptable risk elsewhere in society, we in the hospital have extra vulnerable people to take into account. That is why we are now introducing this rule at Østfold Hospital,” says director Helge Stene-Johansen.

In special cases, exceptions to the rule may be made. In these cases, visits must be arranged with the ward before arrival at the hospital, and for companions, face-masks must be used throughout the visit. Parents of children in the hospital can still visit, but must wear a face-mask.

Several municipalities have recently adopted local measures to protect the most vulnerable.
