Researcher Gunhild Alvik Nyborg believes the spread of the coronavirus is out of control and calls for full isolation.

– “We must do something about today’s strategy. We have to wake up, we have to fold up our sleeves and fight,” Nyborg says in an interview with Fredrik Solvang in the debate at NRK.

She holds a doctorate in pharmacoepidemiology and believes that the seriousness of the spread of the virus and its consequences of has not fully realized for the Norwegian authorities and most people.

– “We have no control, there is nothing to indicate that the curve will flatten out,” says Nyborg.

She believes even more drastic measures are needed to stop the spread of the virus.

– “We must quarantine everyone who does not have critical functions in society. Social isolation is very effective,” she says.

Health Director Bjørn Guldvog says in a comment that Norway is investing everything in saving as many people as possible. He believes Norway is one of the countries that does the most to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“We do not have a strategy to shut down the country and try to stop the spread altogether,” says Preben Aavitsland, MD, at the Institute of Public Health.

He believes that it is not possible to stop the virus completely.

– “We need to slow the epidemic, so that the health care system can keep up with the development. That means there will be deaths,” says Aavitsland.
