On the same day that the cancellations in Norwegian started, an overtime agreement between the airline and the pilots expired, Parat confirms.
Thousands of Norwegians ready to go on holiday are furious with Norwegian after the company canceled a number of flights both to destinations inside of Norway and destinations abroad this weekend , the newspaper VG writes.
Flights to popular holiday destinations such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Spain have all been canceled, both from Oslo, Værnes and Stavanger.
Norwegian has said that some of the cancellations are due to crew shortages, but they do not know any more than this about the cause.
Saturday night the union Parat confirmed that there is a conflict between pilots and Norwegian concerning agreement on overtime and buying and selling holidays.
– Our pilots have had an agreement with the employer about purchasing holidays. This agreement has been terminated because there is a disagreement between us and our employers about its use, Hans-Erik Skjæggerud says.
He does not want to speculate on whether the termination of the agreement is the reason for the cancellations.
– We have said to our pilots that they should keep their part of the agreement until further notice, said Skjæggerud.
