The pharmacies have experienced great demand for face masks, after the health authorities announced that they will shortly come up with new face mask advice.

Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad told TV 2 on Wednesday that there will be new advice for face mask use in a few days.

This led to a large increase in sales of face masks at the online pharmacy Farmasiet, writes E24. Only between 21 and 22 on Wednesday night, 20,000 face masks were sold, which corresponds to more than five per second.

In comparison, the company sold 25,000 face masks throughout Monday, which was already a tenfold increase in average face volume sales in July.

– “These are quite high numbers. We sold more yesterday than we did throughout July, and it was already far higher than usual,” says Hans Kristian Furuseth, general manager of Farmasiet to the newspaper.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health has also said that a recommendation for face masks may be relevant.

“Face masks may be relevant in the event of a new boom in Norway, for example in situations where it is difficult to keep your distance. In mid-August, we will send our advice to the ministry,” said department director Line Vold on Friday last week.

The pharmacy chains Boots and Apotek 1 also inform E24 that sales of face masks have increased recently.

At the same time, they emphasize that they have enough face masks in stock, and that they will also receive new deliveries throughout the autumn.
