Labor Party (AP) leader Jonas Gahr Støre has been given the formal task of forming a new government by the king.
Støre arrived at the castle by car around 2 PM on Tuesday and came out smiling around 2:20 PM.
Inside the castle, he was in an audience with King Harald, who commissioned him to form a government. Crown Prince Haakon was also present.
“I would advise His Majesty the King to contact the leader of the Labor Party, Jonas Gahr Støre, as he is the prime ministerial candidate for the two parties that are ready to form a government,” Solberg said when she traditionally announced her resignation in the Storting after the budget was presented Tuesday morning.
