A man was shot at Mortensrud in Oslo on Thursday night. The man’s condition was critical on Thursday night.

The police were notified of the shooting, which took place outside Lofsrud school at Mortensrud in Søndre Nordstrand district, at 10:22 PM on Thursday.

The police helicopter and dog patrols were deployed in the search for one or more suspects in the case, but on Friday morning, the police had no updates on the investigation and the search for suspects.

“We have been working on the case all night, but so far, we have nothing new to say,” operations manager Rune Hekkelstrand in the Oslo Police District told NTB at 5:30 AM on Friday.

Press release Friday morning

The young man received treatment on the spot before he was transferred to Ullevål hospital by ambulance.

A witness at the scene told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that she heard six shots. Another witness confirmed that to the newspaper VG.

“Several people are said to have escaped from the scene after the shooting episode,” the police’s operational leader Erling Olstad stated.

“But it’s a young man, not a boy. We are investigating the case extensively and will continue throughout the night until Friday,” Hekkelstrand said just after 11 PM on Thursday.
