Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) brought a book and flowers with him when he thanked his predecessor Erna Solberg (H) for her efforts during eight years on the job.
“I put the policy aside – and want to use this opportunity to thank you,” Støre said to Solberg after receiving the key card to the Prime Minister’s office.
Støre brought a bouquet of flowers and a copy of the book “Landet mot nord” by Mona Ringvej as a present to Solberg.
“You have been prime minister for eight years, and regardless of whether you belong to this side or that side, people have felt and seen a prime minister who has stood up every day for what she believes in and put Norway’s interests first,” Støre said.
He also praised Solberg for her efforts internationally.
“I want to wish you good luck going forward,” he added.
