In an official press release after the first day of the meeting, the Taliban delegation thanked Norway for the opportunity to talk about cooperation and common understanding.

The delegation from the Taliban, which arrived in Norway on Saturday night, met with activists for women’s rights and human rights defenders on Sunday. The meetings with other countries will not start until Monday.

In a statement on Sunday night, the Taliban delegation wrote that they discussed and listened patiently to other views on the current situation in Afghanistan during Sunday’s meetings.

They reaffirmed that Afghanistan is a common home for all Afghans and stressed that all Afghans must work together for the country’s political, economic, and security prosperity.

“The participants in the meeting acknowledged that understanding and joint cooperation are the only solutions to all the problems in Afghanistan. All participants, with one vote, declared that such meetings were in the country’s interest,” the statement further states.
