One person was transported to the hospital with burns and two others with smoke-related injuries after a powerful fire in several care homes in Granatveien in Tønsberg.

“Five apartments are on fire. It is burning heavily,” operations manager Anne Meyer in the Southeastern Police District told NTB.

The person with the burns is a man in his 40s. The others are in their 70s and 80s, the newspaper Tønsbergs Blad writes.

“Everyone is out”

“Three people have been taken to the hospital, one of whom has burns. All the apartments have been searched, and as far as we can assess, everyone is out,” on-duty fire chief Einar Flogeland in the Vestfold inter-municipal fire service stated.

The fire was reported at 3:50 AM, and a short hour later, all five apartments were on fire. No people have been reported missing.

Thirteen other residents were also evacuated due to the smoke in the area.

The evacuees are taken care of by ambulance and health personnel.
