An ampoule from World War II was found in Jesusbukta in Horten on Friday night. This is the fourth such find in Vestfold this year.

“The person who reported the find stayed on the spot. We picked it up and secured it in a suitable container. Then the ampoule was handed over to the police, as usual,” deputy chief Donald J. Bell in Vestfold Intermunicipal Fire Brigade noted.

In February and March, two similar discoveries were made in Tønsberg and one in Horten. If you find an ampoule, mark the place and contact the police.

“Whole and undamaged ampoules do not pose a health risk. The chemicals can pose a health risk, for example by inhalation, ingestion, or contact via skin and eyes only when they are opened,” the fire brigade noted.

Germans used the ampoules during the war. After the war, some of the equipment was buried or dumped in the sea, according to the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment.
