Plane carrying more than 130 people crashes in China

A passenger plane from China Eastern Airlines has crashed near the city of Wuzhou in the Guangxi region of China, according to Chinese state media.

According to the reports, there were 123 passengers and nine crew members onboard the plane, and has been fire reported on the hillside where the plane has crashed. 

Several videos from the crash site, shared on social media, show wreckage scattered over a large area. No major parts of the plane are visible in the videos, and there is little hope that anyone may have survived the crash.

According to the Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, the crashed plane was a Boeing 737.

According to Flightradar24, the plane departed from Kunming in Yunnan province and was flying to Guangzhou when it crashed south of Wuzhou.

The flight usually takes 1 hour and 37 minutes, but the plane disappeared from the radar screens after just over an hour.
