PM Støre sounds the alarm: “Strong forces are trying to push the truth aside”

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) warns against forces that spread untruths about both COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister gave a speech at the annual meeting of the support group that helps victims and all those affected.

There, he addressed the political debate that arose in connection with last year’s marking of the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the government quarter and Utøya on July 22, 2011. According to Støre, the 10th anniversary became important because it put history in a clear perspective.

“Speaking the truth about things has obviously become a very challenging thing. Tell the truth about pandemics and vaccines, tell the truth about the war in Ukraine, and tell the truth about terrible things that are happening.

“There are quite strong forces that try to push the truth aside and instead distort what is happening. It upsets me more than I can express,” he said.

  1. Truth – real, objective truth – is indeed a strong force and can (and I believe will) someday bring politicians who have been distorting it to (by then all very legal) capital trial for the millions – even in Norway – of innocent men, women, and children who die because of their distortions.

  2. … who die horribly because of their distortions.
