Investigators believe they have uncovered a Norwegian-Ukrainian network that has run organized pimping activities in Oslo.

Around 200 Eastern European women are said to have been transported to Norway. More than 100 of them are said to have lived in an apartment building in Oslo where they have sold sex to Norwegian men, the police told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

The women are said to have been brought across the border from Sweden, some on foot to avoid being caught by cameras. In the spring of 2021, Kripos began monitoring the business.

The investigation led the police to what they believe is an organized criminal network. According to the police, a Ukrainian woman in her 50s and her Norwegian husband in their 30s are the main persons of interest in the case. They allegedly operated the brothel, as well as ran advertising, customer contact, and transport. The woman and the man denied criminal guilt for human trafficking but admitted to pimping.

The case also includes several accomplices: a person who worked as a kind of caretaker in the apartment building, two people who were in charge of transporting the women, two people who rented out space, and a woman who is being investigated for assisting with pimping in Moldova. All of the accomplices deny criminal guilt.

  1. The tip of the iceberg.
It is a tragedy to see girls – often beautiful – destroyed like this. HIV/AIDS and/or HPV (which causes uterine cancer and can even get through (or past) condoms) are inevitable.
And look at the brutal – terrorizing – murder of Galina Sandeva from Bulgaria who had had the courage to tell her story to the media.
